Village of
Sloatsburg
Fall and Winter Season Update:
The following is an updated Refuse, Recycling, Bulk and Leaf Pickup schedule
for the Village of Sloatsburg. Please keep this
card handy for future reference. All household REFUSE will be
collected at curbside for the entire Village on Tuesdays and Fridays. Such
refuse should be placed in a covered refuse container, placed at curbside
and
removed from curbside as soon as possible after pickup.
RECYCLING pickup is every Wednesday. Recycling bins should be placed at
curbside and removed from curbside as soon
as possible after pickup. Your green bin should contain all colors of glass,
all metal cans, Numbers 1 and 2 plastics. In the
blue bin place newspapers, magazines, junk mail and corrugated cardboard.
LEAF COLLECTION, YARD WASTE AND GRASS CLIPPINGS will be provided by the
contractor on Mondays The
Contractor requires residents to put leaves and grass clippings in
biodegradable bags and place at curbside for pickup. Free
biodegradable bags for residents are available in the Village Office. To
prevent blockage of storm drains, please do not rake
leaves onto the roadways or in and along gutter lines. Home composting is
encouraged.
BRANCHES and TWIGS will be also be picked up on Mondays, only if cut and
tied in three foot bundles.
BULK collection of household waste, commonly referred to as “white goods”
(refrigerators, water heaters, stoves, air conditioners,
appliances, washers, dryers, furniture, household fixtures and the like)
will now be picked up on Fridays. Please
place items at curbside as close to pickup day as possible. The
Village continues to accept used motor oil, car batteries and
rimless tires. These items can be dropped off at the Public Works Facility
any Monday thru Friday 6 am to 2 pm.
WINTER PARKING, SNOWPLOWING Residents are reminded that parking is
prohibited on all public roads
within the Village of Sloatsburg from 12 midnight to 6:00 a.m., commencing
December 1st through April 1st. The
shoveling or plowing of snow onto the roadway is prohibited. Per Local Law
#2, all private snow removal
contractors are required to obtain a permit to carry out snowplowing
activities with the Village of Sloatsburg.
Permits are available commencing November 1st at a fee of $25.00 per
vehicle.
• Portable basketball hoops must be removed from the road shoulder and be at
least five feet from the pavement
edge. The Village will not be responsible for any damages caused to these
portable basketball hoops during the snowplowing
season.
